John the Baptist came ordained
By the hand of God…
To wash folks off with water
(They thought him very odd.)
Questions followed questions
As he did his job-
Readying them for Jesus
(ONE they soon would laud!)
Then, finally he told them
To look out for the day;
When redemption would arrive,
In an awesome way.
He said: I'm second fiddle
To that man upstairs…
Who'll bring on the Holy Ghost
And baptize you with FLARE!
